blumeaniandglove: No, it isn't. The time limit is the first requirement. How it looks and the amount of effort visible counts very much as well.

Lines are a bit messy, as is the coloring. The hair looks like nice.

The time limit is only a small factor to deciding whether a pic gets to stay here....it's more to do with the effort put into it....and you've shown that you have made the effort to produce a polished pic, it could be argued that the linework is technically not finished (polished), but not all strive for clinical precision in finished work and the looseness of linework stands as another style.

toward the end of this picture, i got really tired of it, so i kind of rushed(as you can tell, especially from the hand). i'm not very pleased with it in general, ESPECIALLY the nose. and the funky hair. X( but oh well, it's done now.

woops, forgot the little bit o' background i was going to do on it.

I'm in a play at my school (Dorine is my name.) and i'm a maid, who really doesn't do anything. Thats me, and mostly how I look in real life (though not as wavy, and my hair is currently brownish.) But i was bored in speech class, so i did a whole bunch of stuff that i would do, only it being Dorine (if you can make that into sense)

I like it, it's wierd, it's unusual, it's totally off the wall, big bright in-your-face style that takes everything that 'real' artists would hate, rolls it up into one pic and smacks you in the head with it....
The shading on her skin fits very nicely indeed as it seems to sit somewhere between solids and actual shading and yet remains subtle enough not to overwhelm the overall 'look'....hehehe I love those arms and frilly head-dress...:)

Timer lies... only took about 2.5-3 hrs..which is still a long time.

For all of us who adore Riku.

I used a popular pose, but i didn't use a Refrence, so i don't know if its exactly right. And that sora is a Voodo doll.

Aww, the Sora doll is so cute! <3 I agree with snoopywar... there's a bit too much "white space" (that would be the bg). This could easily be solved if you cropped the canvas (though I don't think you can do that after starting already... maybe draw the subject a little bigger? Or start out with a smaller canvas? X3;; ). Eee... now I wanna play KH again! >w<

hey this is pretty good :D I liked Sora better than Riku though. *pets Sora and pokes a Riku doll* haha... okay...
the highlights in sora's hair look weird. it only looks like he has white stuff in it. but I love the highlights on Riku's hair though n.n
speaking of Riku... his face could use more shading. actually, the whole thing could use more shading. there should be a darker part under this lower lip, under his jaw on the neck, and others...
the bump on his neck disturbs me :S (i have no idea how you call it) I would have done it smaller, well, less bumpy.
I also understand what they mean by the "blank bg" it steals the attention away from Riku. especially because the "banner" is the same color or almost as his hair. I would recommend that you use the pen tool at 255 to apply color. the colors will look more vibrant. then you can mix colors with the watercolor/airbrush tool...
anyway, I still love this pic :3 I think it's one of your best. I really like how you colored Riku's hair and how you did his mouth n.n

Hum first of all i think you should have centered the picture a little more, or take a smaller size of oekaki because all i could see at first was the background and i was very clueless *as usual* then I realized it was riku, which is gorgeous here n_n I love riku too...Sora is too...not enoughh... *pets riku, pokes sora* I think the line art is wonderful n_n only thing: Try to use the same colors when you shade, cuz i see some green in the face and my brain doesnt get it ._. well anyway you did a marvelous job on riku n_n and hum, I hope what i said is useful and you did a lovely job on that oekaki :D!

Animation would have been nice for C+C (for me anyway). Anyway... hm... Squall and Rinoa? Using FMV is not a good way to learn realism, especially since they're not quite realistic themselves. Not sure if they are Squall and Rinoa... but that's what I thought.

The main issue I can see are the noses. You're probably too scared to make them too big. Extending the bridge to a flatter "bottom" would make it look more correct. The brow on the guy should probably stick out a bit more instead of being so.... slightly curved. This site is very helpful (although it deals with pencil potraits): [link]

The eyes are quite good, as is the sahding on the faces. The lips could use a little more shading, but look fine as is. The hair is really nice. I'd say you'd do fine with realism by just polishing up and basic anatomy.

As for the characters depicted: they weren't supposed to be Squall and Rinoa (haven't even played the game); I tend to do original art. :P BUT, I see your point when you say their noses are too flat (a huge problem of mine). Looks good when it's a flat, 2D picture... but when attempting to make it realistic, it doesn't work XD;;

This picture is attracting me o_ô *pokes comp screen* I dont know its just so...dreamy! I love the effect of it, it makes me think of a snowstorm, and god only knows how much I love snowstorms :D! But hum the hair is just...Woah...how did you do that im so jealous of the hair! the only thing i see is the girl's nose that is too flat, but else, everything is wonderful *rainbow* and I agree, you will kick asses in realism! great work as usual :3

this was the first one that i did in more than one sitting. lots of little detail. i think it turned out well. AND LOOK! a background!

this is Sylvan again, though his hair isn't exactly the right color, his skin is too dark, and it doesn't totally look like him. oh well, i'm happy with the picture, i don't really care.

i have no idea what the timer will say when i post this, but it took a total of more than 19 minutes and less than 5 hours.
