this is so gorgeous. i love the way the lights look, both the headlights and the colored lights, and the many colors in the background are amazing. you can almost feel the texture.

Be not afraid.
Random doodle. Crits welcome. I gave upon her arm.
lorelai 2007/11/28 - 11:33:18
Woot, nice! My crit: The pyramid is the same brightness as the girl, so there is no foreground/background established (the floating text doesn't help either). try to establish depth first and foremost when working with a picture with multiple subjects, so they don't fight for attention! :)
epiphanymoonchild 2007/12/27 - 8:12:35
Love the light grids and beams erupting from the pyramid. Om sign all the same-I draw both practically everyday. But I really am fascinated by and adore this vibe and concept.

Hello! This is my first post here, so I hope it's okay to post this in this room!

So yeah, I'm Zoe (or Die if you wish!) I draw with a mouse, and I do a lot of semi-realism.

Theres a few little mistakes I need to come back and fix, but nothing major. SO besides little things, C&C is extremely welcomed. ;D
senobdec 2007/11/23 - 21:38:29
Not bad at all.
A) I rather dislike floating heads, though I do my fair share of them XD.
B) Increase the contrast in your shading, and maybe darken the skin tones (overall) a little.
C) left eye should be closer to the middle, and higher - adjust the face as well.

Nice job. Welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay here.
lorelai 2007/11/24 - 16:33:20
You are VERY amazing with the mouse! I especially love the shading and shape of her nose and mouth. It looks like you were a tad less patient with her hair. Everywhere I look it seems to me you've really got your technique together, so I want to hold off on critiquing it until i've seen more of your work, so I look forward to more!
jakusama 2007/11/24 - 23:45:46
I really like this. And I hope to see more from you. She looks so sad. Please keep drawing! I want to see more. :D
diezombiedie 2007/11/25 - 9:23:45
Okay, done enough.

Thanks for the crit and comments! I'll keep those in mind.

I'm...pretty fed up with this picture 8DDDD. Been working on it for 3 days, scrapped about 3 coloured versions of this and scrapped about 2 versions of the lineart, hahaha.

Durr, orz.
jakusama 2007/11/17 - 15:58:43
I really, really like him. Really. He reminds me of like Vampire Knight or something. Smexy. If he were a vampire, he'd be that much smexier. And I'd love to lay ontop of him.
sabii 2007/11/18 - 3:58:54
i like the composition. it's such a shame you didn't finish :c
lorelai 2007/11/21 - 13:45:52
I like the "duhh, orz." which is what i would do if i were the one in the pic with him =D
gleeful1 2008/3/30 - 16:12:21
oooh dang... this picture... sexy.
i'm jealous of the couple. they're equally BEAUTIFUL.
i also think the colors xo extremely well together! XDD

Haven't been around in over a year, but I figured I should pop in and say hello again. I wouldn't be surprised if you all forgot about me. :D

This isn't my usual oekaki style...I prefer solids, but I figured I'd give watercolor a shot. Lineart killed me. -_-

Hope you all like the picture, despite retarded pose. XD C/C welcome and appreciated!
jakusama 2007/11/17 - 15:59:55
I remember you! Glad to see you back, and your lineart looks impeccable! Love the shading.
embo 2007/11/19 - 0:54:36
I remember you! and your work had improved so much, it's amazing! awesome action pose. :D

300 was a ridiculous movie and this scene was completely unnecessary, but it was very well made. So I decided to draw it. It was a lot of fun to make all those flowing smoke/fabric lines :D
Reference was quite obviously used. Also, I have no idea how that dress is attached to her body o_O
senobdec 2007/11/10 - 23:28:4
Now that's awesome. And I don't mean because she's essentially nekkid, though that is a nice bonus XD.

"I have no idea how that dress is attached to her body o_O"

It's not. The better to be slobbered over by creepy inbred freaks I suppose.
elolinon 2007/11/11 - 8:19:19
Too bad I haven't seen 300, because I can clearly imagine the scene only by looking at your picture :) She looks celestial, like a goddess.
I love the way you made it look both smooth and sharp at the same time! I got the feeling of a frozen moment in time or something like that, she seems to be floating in mid-air. Nice movement and use of colors too, this is that kind of picture that makes the inspiration flow.
orangisque 2007/11/11 - 14:58:1
Uwahh, looks like she's flying 8D. It's really well done, ohh the unlimited possibilities of oekaki.

Colour palette reminds me of a classical painting, wee.
dorothyblueeyes 2007/11/11 - 18:22:43
yes, this is a marvelous classical painting ; sigh
dorothyblueeyes 2007/11/11 - 18:28:19
This level of excellence makes me cranky, cause now I even have a hard time doing ANYTHING AT ALL, on the computer,so I better not be bitter about the art of others;I just cheer you on.Really.KEEP IT UP. YOU ARE GREAT, ALL OF YOU, TOO.; ) , dorothyblueeyes "Art is Worth It"
lorelai 2007/11/12 - 0:56:52
loved that scene, loved that dance, love this oekaki *____*
lavalizard 2007/11/13 - 18:11:6
So flowy and pretty. I haven't seen the movie, but it does look like a cool scene:-)
purrdy 2007/11/13 - 20:19:55
Beautiful picture. I personally think it's better than that scene in the movie because you can't see her CRAZY nipples. They were like golf balls!
umi-chan 2007/11/14 - 13:19:5
*falls* holy crap, this is awsome!
artanis 2007/11/16 - 12:46:55
this is amazing... the shadows are beautiful! you've really captured the flowing, shifting feel. and i agree - the scene was totally superfluous, but still really pretty.
jakusama 2007/11/17 - 15:59:30
Haha that's... really really neat. I love it. I love thw whispy-ness of it.

Whew. C+C welcome.
Um... also, I'm back.
Ref: Angelina Jolie: [link]
I still think the arm looks pretty bad, both in the photo and my oekaki. Also, I misplaced the ear.
Any tips on doing hair better?

sankyu 2007/11/6 - 4:7:40
The hair looks fine, very realistic. And the whole thing looks like its done with acrylics, bravo!
jakusama 2007/11/6 - 11:49:50
Wow. That is *so* cool. I wish I could do that. I don't know how it could be better, really. It's lovely.
lorelai 2007/11/7 - 0:2:8
*DIES*
Magnificent!!
golden 2007/11/7 - 9:53:25
I'm in love with her eyes in this picture.. and I really can't see what's wrong with the hair.
lorelai 2007/11/7 - 10:2:42
oh, since you wanted comments on how to improve it - two things stand out to me. One, not enough chin - and two, the colors for the light/darkness on the skin make it look a little muddy. I think you might have better luck with a yellow/peach tinted highlight than just white, cuz it looks like she didn't rub all her sunblock in :) similarly, the dark shadows should bemore relevant to the neutral skintone - the shade at her elbow is better than the one on her upper arm.
bananarana 2007/11/7 - 19:20:49
Loooook at that ear, hubba hubba!
dorothyblueeyes 2007/11/11 - 18:23:49
Its' wonderful, too bad it's that ratty Angelina Jolie,ha ha.

The Host, by Stephenie Meyer. Due out in May. Yay. A little strange, I realize this. Critiques on... well, anything, are welcome.

<3
senobdec 2007/10/30 - 23:27:22
Hmm... I'd lower the eyes a little more (toward the chin) and maybe thicken the eyebroaws and push the browline a bit more forward.

Nice job on the lips BTW. Rather curious what this pic is a reference to. *google-fu!*
embo 2007/10/31 - 2:10:56
for the hair I would treat it more like a mass, it's a lot faster. hit all the light and shadows first in blocks, then put in the stringy details.

the symmetry is very mesmerizing and I like all the spacey stuff in the back! would also be curious as to the meaning.

nice work :D
jakusama 2007/11/2 - 14:27:45

i figured it was about time i did something with a reference. I cant stand using references, im too much of a perfectionist.

*jawdrop* Wow, this is so graceful and beautiful. Amazing!
golden 2007/10/29 - 11:16:21
the shading is amazing, I can sit and stare at the arms forever. do you use a mouse or tablet for drawing?
bleau 2007/10/29 - 14:8:15
I use a tablet
senobdec 2007/10/29 - 18:43:38
Superb. Very, very nicely done.
lorelai 2007/10/30 - 10:57:20
FANTASTIC. =D~
umi-chan 2007/10/30 - 20:58:7
oh mi goodness. this is very beautiful, i love it! elegant and realistic, good job ^^
jakusama 2007/10/30 - 22:5:35
I'm so envious of your shading. Really. It's gorgeous.
embo 2007/10/31 - 2:13:6
hmmmmmmmm
elolinon 2007/10/31 - 8:54:19
Brilliant shading! You have a way of mix the colours together that makes your pictures so totally awsome, I can't stop looking at them xP The contrast between shadows and highlights on her leg is just fab o.O Did you use the watercolour-tool for this one?
bleau 2007/10/31 - 19:24:55
yeah i used the round brushed watercolortool
dorothyblueeyes 2007/11/11 - 18:24:42
wow, hang this in a museum!fabulous.

*does the post-mid-terms dance*
orangisque 2007/10/27 - 13:13:28
I love the paint-ly feel of this piece, you did a wonderful job with it. The palette is also wonderful, the colours go very well together.

Congratulations on finishing your midterms 8D.
purrdy 2007/10/27 - 17:40:34
Ahh, so beautiful. She seems so alone. =( Perhaps, waiting for someone?
I love the colors and her dress/blouse is nice.
golden 2007/10/28 - 1:24:2
very nice paintery style :) you have a good eye for colors as well.
lorelai 2007/10/28 - 23:42:56
Totarry pwned by your colors. =D
senobdec 2007/10/30 - 22:3:1
