Hitomi. My character. Shes a vampire, somewhat gothy. This didn't take me 3 hours, my friend got a part in a movie and now I'm his uber obsessed fan girl. This took about 2 hrs.
C&C is welcome.
shadrad 2005/6/1 - 9:4:42
I really like the eyes, and how the background "goes" with the picture...You're improving! ^_^
emerald 2005/6/1 - 10:44:1
lorelai 2005/6/1 - 17:7:19
nice pattern in the bg!!~ a bit of a crit: the eyes are a bit far apart, and she has the impression of being really wide-eyed because the eyeball's not touching the sides of the eyes anywhere...and there's no shading in the eye. ^o^
emerald 2005/6/1 - 20:2:34
This is right after she finds out shes a vampire, so she's pretty suprised.

sorry, i'm totally overusing the hair-on-fire gimmick, but this time it's because this fella is a fire shaman. he turned out rather weird-looking, girly and bug-eyed, my apologies. but i like the coloring. c&c welcome, as always. :)
blumeaniandglove 2005/6/1 - 1:25:40
Overusing? NEVER! Paco my dear, i could stare at your amazing firey-hair all day! I love the skin/face so much...how do you do it? Anyway, he's beautiful.
lorelai 2005/6/1 - 2:12:43
gorgeous, Paco :D I wonder what it'd look like if you integrated the hair more into the locks though? (right now it's a different kind of texture so it feel like it's not exactly part of the hair sometimes). Maybe bigger brush strokes? just a suggestion i'd love to see you execute with your style :D
mika-kun 2005/6/1 - 14:25:21
I like the big bold use of colours in the face....:)
snoopywar 2005/6/1 - 16:59:9
I love the shading on this!! X___x;
The hair's really cool. :)
heavenlystrike 2005/6/2 - 17:46:44
omg he looks so dreamy I want to adopt him. or at least meet him. *_* you rock soo much paco

I can't remember what this started as or where it was going. It's something to do with female sexuality.
lorelai 2005/6/1 - 2:13:18
Oh my! :O good work on her...eyes >_>
mika-kun 2005/6/1 - 14:22:9
Well, other than stating the obvious reason I like this I'll say you did a great job on the skintone, I like the touches of yellow/red/orange you've put in it, good job on the pose too.....
surreal 2005/6/6 - 21:54:53
Simply true beautiful art. :D
embo 2005/6/8 - 15:28:48
boobs. since she's lying down wouldn't they flatten? they look a little perky.
embo 2005/6/8 - 15:30:21
the idea is really cool though. i get the deal with the flower to portray her.........vagina. and stuff. I'LL SHUT UP NOW.
was I allowed to say that on here?

Gothic Queen Magnum.
Another one of my characters, except I kinda made this one up on the spot as I was doodling this, I liked the idea so I'm including her.
C & C appreciated.
golden_ataris 2005/5/31 - 10:27:11
Oh, sorry for second post, but may I add that this pic was also done with reference in mind to advice Lorelai had given me for my previous picture made for the Polished Room.
paco 2005/5/31 - 13:42:11
very interesting and dynamic character design. i like the colors you used in her skin, and her crazy claw-like hands. the linework is quite nice too, imo. :D
mika-kun 2005/5/31 - 14:42:54
Crazy colouring...she sure stands out from the bg, and you just gotta love those clawlike hands..
lorelai 2005/6/1 - 2:11:17
two metric TONS improved from your last oekaki. I'm so honored ;_; /weep
keep it up!
kaoruu 2005/6/2 - 15:14:46
Wow, very interesting and complex character design. :D Looks like it would be very fun to draw. The colors contrast very well with the background, which is just awesome. Incidentally, I really like the design on the face and the arms/hands especially.

lorelai 2005/5/31 - 1:21:8
I LOVE his expression. hehehehe...
kaiomi 2005/5/31 - 14:43:26
the blueness ^_^ gotta love his smirk *steals him away*
mika-kun 2005/5/31 - 14:44:13
From the look on his face I'd say the only thing she was wearing is perfume.....O_o
emerald 2005/5/31 - 18:13:46
He's hot. I want him. Good job..

what they say is true. the devil does wear Prada.
but he prefers Armani. ;)
blumeaniandglove 2005/5/30 - 1:34:44
Well, Paco. Amazing as always <3
I love the concept. And the suit, how there aren't any lines, but the stripes and tie show you how the suit is cut. Simple background really adds. Good job. ^^
randomfriend 2005/5/30 - 4:45:38
I love this. I really like how detailed the face is, but how plain and undetailed most everything else is. It's a nice contrast. And the his hair is so orangey!
snoopywar 2005/5/30 - 7:43:59
I like. ;)
Which is all I can say, cause Blu-chan and randomfriend-san said everything I would have liked to say. Ahahaha. ;3
kaiomi 2005/5/30 - 22:59:59
I hope the devil doesn't really look like this 'cause he looks very spiffy. Especially with his orange hair.
Is it a bad this to fall for a cute devil?
lorelai 2005/5/31 - 1:16:42
Hellooooooo fine, fine man... :D
mika-kun 2005/5/31 - 14:46:1
Very nice.....and what a great style, I shall of course have to steal it...;)
paco 2005/5/31 - 23:12:14
thanks for all of your wonderful comments, everyone, especially since i wasn't feeling so confident about this one! <3 you all are the best.
golden_ataris 2005/6/1 - 11:15:33
This appeals to me. It's very suave even. It just looks so calming...yet at same time, hell could break loose any moment he chooses. I love the starkness of the white to the detail of his face, then the background to compliment.
p_b 2005/6/4 - 18:54:37
i LOVE this picture the satanic bible and the black halo are really nice touches :)
and the devil is hot >_> and now he's mine *steals and runs away* so there =P

Hope this is good enough for the polished room. My friend just moved away, and it's her, it didn't take me two hours, I took some time to say good bye...it actually only took about an house.I know, Crappy bg as usually.C&C always welcome....Enjoy.
emerald 2005/5/29 - 20:9:9
ienjoydrawing 2005/5/30 - 18:8:59
Neat eye. It must suck to have a friend move away. :( Nice job, though!
lorelai 2005/5/31 - 1:19:41
Nice pic! :D my advice is to stick to one kind of linework, antialiased (fuzzy) or non-antialiased (non-fuzzy, like your eye). having them both makes stuff stick out, like how your eye does in the picture. also, check out the human face profiles in real life for some good tips.

Kinda late to say much about this, I guess. This was going to be in doodle, but it turned out a bit better than I thought it would. Mostly inspired by my neighborhood in the evening. Comments/criticism is fine. Oh, and I couldn't get the palm trees to look right.
lorelai 2005/5/29 - 14:44:28
very pretty!!! i think you put too many leaves in for the palm trees? I'm not sure, no palm trees in NYC...hehehe. looks like a snapshot of a sunset in Los Angeles. i love it :) maybe next time make the silhouettes a bit sharper and darker?
ienjoydrawing 2005/5/29 - 20:54:17
Thanks for the comment! :D Yeah, I thought that maybe the palm trees had too many leaves, but it was dark outside when I was drawing, so I couldn't go out and check how they actually looked. -___- Too bad about not having palm trees in NYC though. :(
You're probably right about the sharper/darker silhouettes - I was trying to make a yellowish glow around them (you know how when an object is in front of a light then there'll kinda be a glowy outline around it?). The houses would probably look better darker but for some reason I thought that the trees should be a little lighter (not as "solid" as the houses)? I dunno.
Guh, this reply is really long...Anyway, this actually started out as coloring practice. :/ But thank you for the thoughts! :D
paco 2005/5/29 - 21:14:26
i think it looks great, and the palm trees look fine to me, but then like lorelai said, we don't have palm trees where i live. the clouds are really cool and i definitely get the silhouetted-by-the-sun feeling from the trees. awesome job :)
zestroy 2005/5/30 - 1:41:44
regarding the trying to make a yellow glow, for me if i was to put that effect I would still make a glowless, solid and sharp silhouette first, then use a tiny airbrush or pen to add on to the edge where the light falls on.
As for palm trees, I'm not sure of the palm tree at your area, but those at my place has fewer large leaves with alot of leaflets (is that what its called?) Its like a coconut tree leaf but larger. I might suggest that for painting of palm trees, draw skeleton leaves first then add the tiny leaflets ;)
ienjoydrawing 2005/5/30 - 3:20:46
Zestroy: Those are some interesting tips; I'll try to check/try them out sometime soon. Thank you! (^-^)b
jellybean 2005/6/1 - 9:54:18
looks like my town. *lucky me, i have palm trees* i love the sunset effect. its so summery!!
now...i'll ditch the last week of school and summer will be heere!

blaah. yea. take 2 hours off.
this...is Insane Joker. in color...which was a pain x.x she sticks out from the bg because her insanity keeps her from reality most of the time. Ex- she calls everyone santa, even if they are dressed in black and twig-skinng, has rabid squirrels for pets...sits in the middle of the street, and yea.
blocked out her eyes for reasons seen in the animation.
C&C appreciated. <3
kougra_girl 2005/5/26 - 20:46:4
omfg...i wanted this in the polished room x.x ah well. if you guys think it should go there then go ahead and move it there otherwise screw it.
lorelai 2005/5/26 - 21:14:53
Moved upon request! Very nice work! :)
shadrad 2005/5/30 - 11:33:53
This may sound weird...But I really like the hand...lol. But the outfit rocks too!
happywaterbottle 2005/5/30 - 21:27:5
nice contrast between the gloomy bg and the bright colors :)
the hand is very nice indeed oO
mika-kun 2005/5/31 - 14:48:32
Wierd!....but then again I like wierd...:)

Blurgh...it really didn't take that long. I ate dinner in the middle and was translating Shakespeare to my cousin in the middle of drawing :P.
Well, I'm glad to be back. I hope you like my dude. Jo Chen inspired me. btw, if any girl on this board hasn't seen Jo Chen's art, you should be beaten with a paddle...
snoopywar 2005/5/26 - 20:52:35
Wow. This is very lovely. ^^
He looks very very elegant and gentleman-like. :D
lorelai 2005/5/26 - 21:9:41
I do see the influence from Jo Chen! Hehehe, a lovely work :D the face shading is to die for. :O You say you're returning, but I don't think I've seen your work before...regardless, I hope you stay and do more! O_O
paco 2005/5/26 - 23:47:33
this is really awesome. very simple but extremely well-drawn and well-shaded, the nose especially, and his eyes are really great as well. i see the jo chen influence as well, though i probably wouldn't have if you hadn't said it. aghhh that nose, it's so awesome. i like the muted colors as well, they especially set off his eyes. beautiful! hope to see more of your work!
sandra 2005/5/28 - 2:10:43
Both you and Jo Chen draw very cute and well-rendered dudes. *joins the drool party*
kaiomi 2005/5/31 - 14:44:47
*gets beaten by a paddle*
Wonderful coloring...I just adore the entire thing
