not sure if i'll actually finish this (cause it just doesn't seem done yet) ....... meh ..... same old same old ....... i've lost my inspiration so this is what happens when i force myself to draw (kinda like forcing a burp isn't it? all u get is a whole lotta mess .... x_x lol)
kelli 2005/6/12 - 20:48:20
*looks around* mess? what mess? I love the folds, the texture on the fabric and her hair.....you should make a mess of your pictures more often XD
cessy 2005/6/12 - 21:31:19
This looks GREAT! :O :O :O
I love the texture on the cloth! and I love the girl too, looks wicked! heck, looks alot better than what I do when I force myself... :D
dolly 2005/6/12 - 23:59:58
I know how you feel...I always feel like my drawings are never finished and i have to something more to it everytime. that's why i take so much time. but this does look done. I like it a lot.the glow and flow of the clothing.
mika-kun 2005/6/13 - 0:42:39
Good God woman! are you mad?
Let me know when this is finished so I can send it on it's way towards the polished room!
koolia 2005/6/13 - 3:24:17
lol aw thank u all ... and i guess i'm just not sure if it's done yet cause i don't know if i want to put highlights in or not ............. or darker shadows ...... gr ..... screw it !!!!!! it's done!!!!! lol ...... but it's alright, mika-kun, if it stays in the doodle room cause it was all just an experiment with lighting and stuff ......
^_^' !!!
charsiewpau 2005/6/13 - 4:9:25
What mika said. This is absolutely beautiful! I bow down to your skills *worships*
mitsu 2005/6/13 - 11:6:38
^o^ So cool! Gotta love how the sleeves look like liquid and fabric at the same time. Adorible expression, too. :)
jakusama 2005/6/13 - 11:7:14
wait wait wait time out. If *this* godly piece of artwork is a mess, I don't want to see anything better! I might die or get a nosebleed (which is worse) from utter supergodliness. Anyway, this is so awesome.. I wanna see more... 'messes' from you again soon! ^.^ I love the folds in the cloth and the lighting on the clothes and face are so awesome. I'm so jealous everyone has so much talent on this board. -_- (Her hair kick arse, too. The curles.. so cool.)
mika-kun 2005/6/13 - 12:53:0
Moved to polished....and I think everyone will agree...deservedly so!...:)
lavalizard 2005/6/13 - 14:19:44
Cool hairdo. I love those sleeves^_^. So looooong, and I like the texture on them too. Nice lighting from the magic ball.
koolia 2005/6/13 - 16:55:46
thanks everyone!!! i'm glad some ppl seem to like the sleeves (cause i don't lol) ... after i finished the lines i thought to myself "y do the sleeves look wet?!!!!!!" .. but i was to lazy to change it lol!!! .... and maybe next time i'll use a photo ref instead of just (literally) skribbling on some colours for a background lol
i just can't say thanks enough to all of u ... so i'll say it once more .... THANKS for all the nice comments!!!
^_________^ <-super big smile for everyone!! lol
senobdec 2005/6/13 - 18:20:17
Ah... finally..... very nice. Not too shiney ;)
koolia 2005/6/13 - 18:45:58
lol ... and i WAS gonna make it oooober shiney lol .....but it seemed better this way lol ...... thanks!
surreal 2005/6/13 - 22:40:59

I hate the background. I tried realism. But I failed. I'm going to keep trieing though. C&C please.
zestroy 2005/6/12 - 5:37:49
realism generally have a larger value range, it'll be good to take note of that. Also, the thing I find makes this pretty unrealistic(O.o") is the eyes being way too huge
mika-kun 2005/6/12 - 8:21:10
Realism takes a lot of hard work and attention to slight details......and usually a big pile of references.
You started off well with the skeleton of the face, maybe it needed to be a little big longer, but the position of the features are good.....
The width of the nostrils will be about the same as the gap between the eyes...and the width of the eyes will be around the same again....the height of the eyes can be difficult as they can be opened and closed....but usually it is rare for the whole pupil to be seen....unless they are very shocked and you are drawing them straight on...:)
The mouth can be a real pain as not only does it open and close but it can also change it's size depending on the emotion (smiles are generally wide and flat where-as sulking makes them thin and rounder)
Zooming in a lot and adding slight shades (use another layer so you can alter the opacity and then merge when it's how you want it) to build up the picture is how I work.....don't be afraid to really darken them shadows......
I could go on all day about getting realism to look real...but hopefully you have something to work from now......(Hmmmm a realism tutorial...maybe!).....:)
lorelai 2005/6/12 - 12:49:40
A realism tutorial would be SO UP YOUR ALLEY Mika :D

Emerald, good job! I do have a suggestion though. Ever try working on a smaller canvas? or maybe a non-square canvas? why don't you try it sometime? I personally feel it's easier to work on something when I can see it without moving my eyes around. You can always use the zoom-in feature to fine-tune.

Oy. I'm so lazy when it comes to backgrounds. T_T
sakura 2005/6/12 - 1:34:59
<3 aww Cute dragon! -pat pat- Love the colors ^^
mika-kun 2005/6/12 - 8:22:41
As dragons go I'd say this a most extremely cool one.....great clean linework!....:)
embo 2005/6/13 - 12:26:57
hey it's still a background to make the dragon happy! i mean look at that smile on his long mug. I would say though, a little more yellowish green in the grass would prolly separate the beautiful dragon and his friendly neighborhood background.

lorelai 2005/6/13 - 19:55:0
I can really see where the dragon's musculature is and what direction his skin (hide? scales?) is going in..good job!!

I'm not so proud of the shirt, but I did it!

I finally decided to do a realism oekaki 8D Yes I had refrence.. but now I lost the link and I suck u.u; But yes! I am do proud! This person.. is a jrocker.. Miyavi ^^ Glee! I haven't really oekaki-ed in a while, and I haven't been her in a while I've missed ya guys ^^ Anyhoo! Have fun watching the animation... xD

Enjoy! C & C! <3 Hearts x3
p_b 2005/6/12 - 0:15:34
wow this is really good :)
yay for people who don't sketch ^_^ ( i USUALY don't either)
the highlights being the only part of the hair you can see is really spiffy, all his lil bracelets and stuff are really well done too :)
zestroy 2005/6/12 - 7:11:43
the mood is really nice O.O
I really like the way his hair seperates from the background through the strategic use of highlights.
I only feel that if the shadows caused by the creases on the shirt needs a little more variation in thickness such as near the ends to make look less abrupt.
mika-kun 2005/6/12 - 8:25:53
Very impressive.....and definately on the way to ultra realism.....kind of like a mix between realism and vector realism....nice!
snoopywar 2005/6/12 - 8:50:7
I love the way the skin and hair are done. :)
This is awesome. ^^
kaiomi 2005/6/12 - 16:55:8
I agree with Mika. It's like a nifty combo of both. Who doesn't like Miyavi? He's very pretty ^_^
dolly 2005/6/12 - 23:52:23
nice work. I actually like how you did the shirt. I also like how the hair is done. >^.^<
charsiewpau 2005/6/13 - 13:49:14

I almost thought you were doing sasuke from naruto because of the hair.. >.<

n___n fanart, actually. I've been playing long hours of King of Fighters 2003 and this here is Ash Crimson, one of the characters.

I <3 Ash.

His right hand is a bit awkward but it didn't seem so awkward while I was drawing. Heh heh. :X

Anyway, comments welcomed.
snoopywar 2005/6/11 - 17:42:8
I like the hands. :)
mika-kun 2005/6/12 - 8:28:48
I think the hands are great, you did a fine job of them....I've never played the game he's from myself, but I know it's mega popular....great fanart!

Should I keep going?
snoopywar 2005/6/11 - 10:19:24
Why not?
mika-kun 2005/6/11 - 11:13:18
Tough question....on the one hand you could finish it and we could all applaud it's brilliance.....or you could leave it unfinished and I suspend you for a month.......

(Just kidding! ;P ....it would be more like 6 months :D)
snoopywar 2005/6/11 - 17:47:49
Thats harsh, Mika-kun...
mika-kun 2005/6/11 - 20:13:57
It's a joke....:D
(but I would love to see it finished)
embo 2005/6/11 - 20:41:48
well, he's got a point. :P

Plus, you slice a poor little kitty kat's heart every time you leave an oekaki picture unfinished (in a place other than the test room).

buttermilk-elf 2005/6/12 - 8:39:14
She will break your bonds one by one, and she will laugh as you fall, for she is the Devil.

Finally finished. I almost decided not to continue, but here it is! I don't know what to say really... When the Devil is higher up than you, you're in trouble! XD C&C welcome, as usual.
buttermilk-elf 2005/6/12 - 8:40:33
**Can this be moved to the Polished room please?**
mika-kun 2005/6/12 - 19:18:45
I think we can arrange that....:)

Well, I finally did my first polished room oekaki. It took me damned near 12 hours all together. I was doin' it off and on, I guess. o_O I hope this is up to par.
lorelai 2005/6/11 - 12:1:24
absolutely awesome. Great work in the polished room! The eyes and the teeth are my favorite.
mika-kun 2005/6/11 - 12:2:35
Most definately upto standard, in fact she's pretty awesome.....excellent hair and most captivating smile...great work!
embo 2005/6/11 - 20:49:19
oh my gosh.

your shading is SO good. it's so clean and subtle! very nice, although a bg would give more love to my heart. ;o;
dolly 2005/6/12 - 23:55:23
I saw keep doing polished work!

Uhh, I'm back?

I liked this while I was drawing it, but I realize that I don't do Black and White very well. In my opinion, this is very bland.

Comments and criticisms are welcome, as long as you don't complain about my anatomy. It isn't supposed to be photorealistic.
p_b 2005/6/10 - 19:39:47
this made me larf sohard ^_^
she hears something >_> <_< she knows SOMEONES there
he thinks she has a nice ass >_<
she thinks she's gonna kick some ass >=\
mika-kun 2005/6/11 - 11:54:42
Reminds me very much of the b/w comic books you see....and no, that isn't a bad thing!
lorelai 2005/6/11 - 12:0:36
Love the expression, hahahaha! Maybe instead of the consistent dotted shading you could use black/white tones to give shading to the picture? Either that, or you could clean up the outlines or put in line thickness variance. It's a very nice picture, but I think you could take it a step farther, especially since the background seems much more worked :) I LOVE that strange smiley guy.

I love the sky and the lake. this is so different from your usual style! I hope you'll make more landscapes like this, it's gorgeous.
lorelai 2005/6/10 - 18:16:11

p_b 2005/6/10 - 18:32:31
this is so pretty O_O all the colors in the sky look like a big fluffy rainbow ^_^
i love all the little details like the blades of grass and the rocks off in the distance
charsiewpau 2005/6/10 - 19:16:20
Amazing work.. kudos on a job well done.
kelli 2005/6/11 - 1:7:39
I can't decide which I like better, this or your other style...I think I'll go with both XP
I love the sky and the water, it gives it such a peacful look
jellybean 2005/6/11 - 10:11:57

There's no way that could be in Britain....it's way too nice.......and an amazing change of style too!
embo 2005/6/11 - 20:51:2
sakura 2005/6/12 - 0:34:46
Utterly beautiful! So stunning!
yumeji 2005/6/13 - 7:32:42
Very beautiful. Slightly wish there was more detail in the foreground to dramatically give the illusion that this is a photograph. : )

Reminds me of a perfect setting for the Loch Ness sea monster.
silentlyscreaminginside 2005/6/28 - 19:25:56
This is really good. I love the colour of the sky and the water, actually I love the colour of everything there. Keep up the good work.

That timers wrong (duh) >_> If any of you read the forums...you'll know THAT i was afraid to safety save. And WHY i was afraid to safety save.(the picture just came back i dunno what happened x__X.)
This is the same girl that was in the last pic. My bf helped me alot with constantly C&C-ing my screen shots >_<
This is the first time i've ever drawn a guy (seriously it's sad but true x__X) so if you see something majorly wrong with him that's why x__X
lorelai 2005/6/9 - 22:22:47
Oh sweet mercy you were able to save it!!!!!! I'm so glad!! it looks absolutely amazing! Maybe you should use the link above to download Mozilla Firebird and use that as your oekaki brwoser? I've never ever had a problem there that loses my pictures.

I love the hair in ths picture. and the clothes. and everything. >_<
naty 2005/6/9 - 23:29:17
wow *__*
smoothness!! jebus that is so soft and pretty, and dreads!!! :D! frigging wicked stuff right here, love their poses and how he's kind of blurred out since he's farther away, hella awesome skill <3!
zestroy 2005/6/10 - 7:52:35
honestly, I simply loves her skirt and the subtle details of her ribcage. I can never gets the anatomy there right XD
Oh yea, his pants is amazing O.O
Personally I didn't really like his head as much , but for a freaking first pic of a guys its still pretty good.
p_b 2005/6/10 - 12:21:7
any tips on how to fix his head would be greatly appreciated @_@ i tried so hard but it just wouldn't look quite right
charsiewpau 2005/6/10 - 12:45:48
Beautiful, simply beautiful. I love the colouring.. It's simply eyecathing.
blumeaniandglove 2005/6/10 - 13:46:15
T.T *crawls under a rock*

just kidding, i love his pants and glove, so real...
sandra 2005/6/10 - 14:40:49
Wow, this is amazing! Such creative costumes and lovely detail and the composition is perfect!
I like the guy's pants, too. I cannot for the life of me draw pants. ;)
happywaterbottle 2005/6/10 - 15:34:24
!! teh awesomeness! I'm so glad you didn't lose it!
I love the texture on her skirt ^^
snoopywar 2005/6/10 - 16:24:38
Wow. This is really awesome. o__O
Her hair is lovely, her skirt is interesting. :)
Such lovely shading again. n___n
lorelai 2005/6/10 - 18:15:25
IMHO the face is perfectly fine!! It's just that you picked a very hard angle. I think you're drawing his head too much from a top view, and according to their bodies, which are in side view, it doesn't quite fit. Also certain things in the face are in different POV's than each toher - the nose for instance, are not drawn in the same POV as the mouth.
charsiewpau 2005/6/10 - 19:17:58
a very hard angle? I think it's a super crazy mad interesting *add more superlatives here* kind of angle, and the fact that it was even attempted... I respect you!..
charsiewpau 2005/6/10 - 19:18:44
And those hours you put in certainly shows.. Good job!
mika-kun 2005/6/11 - 11:49:54
Amazing level of detail, and I just love her outfit (but what guy wouldn't?) truly another masterpiece (that hairs stunning too!), boy am I glad you got this back!...:)
maggie_sue 2005/6/11 - 19:40:30
That is a fabulous composition...
buttermilk-elf 2005/6/12 - 9:27:40
AH! HoF! Beautiful work. I absolutely adore the clothing, epecially the girl's skirt thing, and the guy's pants. The anatomy is great. I LOVE it!
dolly 2005/6/12 - 23:54:23
gah!!! so nice!
mitsu 2005/6/13 - 23:33:58
^e^ More greatness from the detail master! Although I'm not sure I would wear them, those costumes are fantastically rendered, 'specially the pants and skirt (?). Loooove the texture to pieces! The whole thing looks like a shot from a movie. :D Maybe if you made the man's jawline a bit more square it would work a li'l better; I always have that problem myself when drawing dudes. Looking forward to the next p_b masterpiece I am.
