Yes. I copied Angies style some what, but it was so cool. I couldn't help myself. My ref was a picture taken last december, this is me.

C+C welcome as always.
duorisai 2005/7/1 - 18:33:51
... Mmm.. Okay.

You seriously spent a lot of time and effort doing this, right? Only reason of you putting it in polished. Your... shading is okay. The face is disproportionate. Her eyes are pretty okay. Nose seems to be in the wrong place compared to the structure of her... face/head. The hair is a bit messy. Quite messy. Your shading is nice. You should practice on this "style" that you've copied. I doubt that this belongs in the polished room.

Practice in the doodle board, please.

emerald 2005/7/1 - 19:47:2
Duo. Yes. I indeed did spend alot of time on this. I am sorry if you feel my face is disproportionate. But this is indeed what I look like. This does belong in the polished room because A.)I spent alot of time on it, and B.)I am proud of it.
If you would like to attempt copieing a picture of yourself, you go right ahead. Its diffucult. And thes a 50% percent chance, you would be no better than me.
remi-187 2005/7/1 - 20:7:23
Ehm... kiddo.
Copying stuff from other pictures is for amatures[in that fashionm, overall, YES].
but this is an oekaki board, so people do all sorts of stuff in here, and most of us arent pro at drawing, not yet anyway, but i spend more time drawing with my mouse than you did that work, i used to spend hours working with my tablet [8-9] so i'd get a good result, and not only me ofcourse, others aswell.
it's a matter of practice and experience when you draw.
one hour is barely enough for someone experienced
[in this board] to copy a photo or draw a real-like face. i'd definaly recommend learning some basic stuff before jumping right away into on of the two HARDEST things to draw in mankind - body, and face [real ones that is].
maggie_sue 2005/7/1 - 20:47:36
duo, emz knows when to post on the doodle board and when to post on the polished board--when you doodle for the sake of doodling or passing the time, you post in the doodle. When you spend time and effort creating a piece that you feel is worthy to be posted among the greatest, you don't stick it in the doodle room. Everyone who enters this community is on a different skill level. Everyone "practices" and experiments with different styles and ideas. Emz, like the other members of this board, know to post "practice" in either the doodle or test room and to post their finest work in polished-regardless of others opinions. You could have left that last comment out of your constructive criticism, that's like telling a child he can't sit at the grown-up table. Please consider such things when you offer criticism in the future.

My only huge crit with this is the mouth looks out of place. Wish I could see your ref pic to offer better critique. Other than that, keep 'em up, emz.
mika-kun 2005/7/1 - 22:39:41
Duorisai......I shall leave your comments where they are as an example of the type of comments we do not want to see on this site, you have not belittled or embarressed anyone but yourself....and you will leave the moderating to the moderators in future!
zestroy 2005/7/2 - 0:48:43
well mika don't be so hard on dou, I guess he just had the same mind set as I did when I just go t to this board ^^ (thinking that polish room is only for higher calibre works) I was so worried if I'm up to par the first time I posted on the polish board XD

Emz: I can't stress how important ears are. I know they are a pain to draw with this wierd folds and such, but it will really give the head more balance.if you're going for realistic, you got to make a larger range of colours for shadings, places such as the nostrils WILL be extremely dark. Yea, for realism try to put more details in, unless it has intended stylisation(new word?)
Its good to see the effort you've put in to add details like thos lines on the lips, but you can push it furthur to add more details all over. And well, I guess you should know that the lips are lope sided... Hmm, maybe for the edge between your shirt and chin there could be a harder edge, the soft edge doesn't make it look like you're wearing the shirt, but its part of your body o.@"
Well, thats all for my crit this time. remeber the power of contrast~ D=

emerald 2005/7/2 - 0:56:54
Eeeek. Thank you Zestroy I just relized I forgot the ears!
mika-kun 2005/7/2 - 6:0:1
While I can appreciate Duorisai's feelings towards the quality of polished room pics (I'd like nothing better than to see it back to it's former hallowed status), I also can see a comment that can be taken as belittling, sarcastic and derogatory which we cannot allow.........
maggie_sue 2005/7/2 - 13:20:23
I can understand zestroy's feelings on polished/unpolished. Sheesh, go to oekaki central and post something under par in the main hall--ouch. I did that about 4 years ago...
emerald 2005/7/2 - 15:14:6
I consider this good because never once in my life have I used a tablet.
duorisai 2005/7/3 - 15:18:2
I've never used a tablet either. Actually, all my drawings are from my crappy mouse. I'm sorry if you can't take critcism well. I didn't even flame you. If you really want to insist on harsher comments, then fine. You have to spend a lot of time or be VERY good to post in the Polished Room. People here really put a lot of work into their oekakis. Even though the painters aren't working for me, I know that I'd spent a heck longer than you doing my own oekaki. And guess what? I still wouldn't post it in the polished room because I know what practice and modesty is.
emerald 2005/7/3 - 15:49:17
Duo. May I say I took you critisism fine, infact, I was laughing because you were telling me my work wasn't suited for polished. So no, You guess what: I will post what I feel goes in the polished room.
mika-kun 2005/7/3 - 15:49:53
Duorisai, I can tell this is something you feel strongly about, a thread on the subject of polished room pics has been started in the forums, please do register and have your say.
mika-kun 2005/7/3 - 15:55:24
Any more argumentative or provocative comments will be deleted.....and that goes for everyone!

Emo child by the sea!!!!11one
Oh... the shirt... was a bugger. I kinda gave up on it after a while. And the... strange... blue light reflection... I don't know what I was thinking.
My second oekaki... ahhh, I love working with Shi-painter!
maggie_sue 2005/6/30 - 21:7:44
welcome to TACo! Lovely coloring on this. I especially love the hint of blush with the added highlight on the cheek. The blue light from the left? Could be reflected off the ocean this person must be walking by? Yesh, that's it. Lovely. Hope you find a nice home here---if not, tell me. I'll beat the mean ones up for ya XD
lorelai 2005/6/30 - 21:44:40
I love the blue lighting! The picture's very well done all around, especially those lips...wow. And the eyes!! The only thing that looks kind of misplaced is the white spot on her cheek - I know the style and it doesn't quite fit in with the motif here, I think. But dang, it's not like it ruins it or even stands out that much or anything. Too awesome. :D
ecru 2005/6/30 - 22:15:46
AHHH, the cheek!!! Yeah, I agree... it doesn't fit at all... but I wanted to shade one like that SO BAD... so my excuse is that he got a third-degree sunburn or something.
mika-kun 2005/7/1 - 1:1:59
Indeed a much warm welcome to rTACo....and certainly a great start, the blue hi-lighting is terrific, I think you got that Emo look down well....I can imagine him on top of a tower block debating wether to fall or write some angsty poetry about the non-existence of life.....:)
zestroy 2005/7/1 - 5:59:9
the "wierd blue" is the thing that really make this piece stands out ^^
when I saw its thumbnail on the main page I was like "whoa, it looks good"
duorisai 2005/7/1 - 18:37:15
Love the coloring! Your style is very pretty. <3
I really do like your clouds and usage of affects in the sky and blue in the hair and such.

Emos... usually don't smile.

So this makes me feel fuzzy inside.

surreal 2005/7/3 - 11:9:22
It's wonderful, absolutely wonderful! Please, teach me your ways? -bows- ._.;
mitsu 2005/7/4 - 15:48:4
Oooh, what I love about this is the incredible feeling of texture--it gives the impression of layers of paint. Mmm! :D Lovely blue lighting, as well.

Holy.... I look so so..... **makes strange noise** ah well... lorelai 2005/6/30 - 21:42:38
So cool!!! I love how you purposely deviated from the reference at certain points; for example I think the hair came out MUCH cooler, as did the lips. wonderfully artistic license. :D Skintone's amazing too! I LOVE it!! You're very pretty ^_^
maggie_sue 2005/6/30 - 22:31:17
>.> <.< angie's a hottie....(in the most hetero way I can say that...)
mika-kun 2005/7/1 - 1:8:35

mitsu 2005/7/4 - 15:49:21

truthofheart 2005/6/29 - 11:49:10

The timer's off, b/c I kept taking breaks. lol. Buuut. Yeah. Ha ha. I really did this for the line drawing but oh well. It's far from perfect but I got tired of it halfway through. lol.

Made up characters for a cheesy image. :D I kind of wanted to try my hand at "redoing" a picture of a pencil drawing on oekaki, but it's nowhere near as good as the original on paper. That and the characters look totally different. And . . . I have issues with the hands. (His hand's not on her butt, it's actually just "in the air.") And the clothes (ICK). The "improvised" background is a luvly to me though. lol.

Anyway, C+C, anyone?
kinako 2005/6/29 - 4:3:11
Wow.. this is great :D I LOVE his face and hair.. his expression is just perfect. The only C&C I really have is that her forearm looks a bit too wide, but just slimming it down I think would solve that :) [although I'm not too good with anatomy, so XP] But anyway, lovely job!
lorelai 2005/6/29 - 11:41:16
Beautiful work. Their expressions (both his face and their body language) is just wonderfully done. Good thing you didn't make him smiling though. Then it would look like he was about to go cop a feel. XD
mika-kun 2005/6/30 - 13:55:15
I dunno, the pic looks fine to me....I agree about her arm though (I think the colour bleed doesn't help the thickness) but other than that I'd say it was a pretty kewl pic.....:)

angie 2005/6/28 - 11:9:45
