haha.
this is a gift for my friend, celine (laughingparade), who just recently registered.

anyway, a cruddy picture of me and a badly-drawn welcome banner.

c&&c is encouraged, too :)
AHH!!! my arms are gone xD
artanis 2008/9/13 - 9:21:13
aw, cute. i love her eyes! her hair is very pretty too. don't be afraid to shade more darkly, especially on such a bright background :)
jakusama 2008/9/16 - 20:32:40
What a warm idea! I bet Celine will love it. How cool, and how sweet of you! I love the hair, and I think the banner is really neat. It's better than anything I could do. I think it looks rather good. :D
laughingcarnivals 2008/9/17 - 16:3:41
thanks all :)
izzi-ink 2008/9/17 - 16:5:1
whoa, you told me you were laughing parade?
mika 2008/10/25 - 1:36:22
'Tis a nice clean pic indeed, the main char could do with being a tad bigger for the pic size....and don't be afraid to go nuts on the eyes as they are the most prominent feature here.

Careful, this thing spits acid!
For Kelli (AKA- Tree-girl)
kelli 2008/8/26 - 10:32:57
Oh Wow! I was not expecting this at all. Thank you so much Mika, you just made my day *hugs*

And you never cease to amaze... I love those piercing blue eyes, the contrast between the face and the halo of black surrounding it, and that background which makes me think of a tie-dye shirt...it's just... kick-ass ^^

Glad to see ya here again =)
golden 2008/8/27 - 8:32:8
Amazing as always, mika. The blue eyes really makes the whole picture pop. And for some reason I'm really fond of the right corner of her mouth xD
elolinon 2008/9/2 - 9:29:48
I love her make up, and how you did those effects around her face! It looks as though she's being teleported ^^ Also, the blue color is a lovely contrast to the b/v!
artanis 2008/9/13 - 9:22:58
wow, this is awesome. as much i love her face and the surrounding texture just amazes me.
artanis 2008/9/13 - 9:23:57
hm. apparently artanis has no grammar today. ^^; obviously she was shocked into grammarlessness by the awesomeness of the picture ;) anyway, mika, this is really fantastic.
jakusama 2008/9/16 - 20:37:40
...let me pick my jaw up off the floor. Maybe it was the acid. First, I was shocked to see a picture from you (yay!) and then the sheer awesomeness about knocked me over. Fabulous. Really. if I could curse on this board, you'd know how I really felt. Something like 'that's @^#% really !^%@ !$@%# sweet!' Not kidding. Love the eyes. And the lips. And the entire face. And the ... the everything. Wow. Just... wow. I'll stop blabbering now, but I could wax praise to you all night. <3
mika 2008/9/17 - 8:31:47
Aaaaah....after all those kind comments I'll have to make the next one even better....thank you all :D
ellinora2 2008/10/31 - 15:7:57
Love it!!

to you my love, i give you my eye O.o anywho its my eye...! well feel free to C&C! XD have a good day!
kelli 2008/5/18 - 18:40:3
And what a lovely eye it is too! You did a really nice job with the color of the iris. That blue is heavenly=) As for a critique...try to avoid a dark outline all the way around the eye. And maybe try to suggest the upper and lower eyelid. I'd say just really observe your eye in a mirror, and continue to observe as you're drawing. Look for any subtle nuances in color, value, shape, ect. and see if you can repeat it in your oekaki. As any artist will tell you, it's all about practice (something I need to do more ^^) But this is a great place to start.... keep up the good work =)
ellinora2 2008/5/19 - 8:44:0
thx XD but its so hard, i draw with mouse so...!
kelli 2008/5/19 - 20:57:37
wow that's kick-ass for a mouse.... I don't know how all you mouse-users do it ^^ Sorry if I overwhelmed ya with that crit.... *gets carried away sometimes* XD
ellinora2 2008/5/20 - 6:23:39
haha its ok, i need critic to get better! :)
lorelai 2008/6/9 - 1:37:58
In awe as usual of you mousers....geeze...please don't get carpal tunnel or anything and sue us, mkay? :)
ellinora2 2008/6/27 - 12:44:41
ill try xD
izzi-ink 2008/8/30 - 19:26:16
i envy your ability to draw eyes xD

jakusama 2008/9/16 - 20:40:20
Haha! How cool! I love the eye. I love the way yo did the lashes, and the color of the iris is beautiful. I can never get the spider-like fan of color out from the pupil right, it always looks silly on mine, but here it looks natural. Beautiful.

lorelai 2008/4/23 - 14:0:18

jakusama 2008/9/16 - 20:44:16
I'm sorry you seem to be feeling down about something, but the effect is really, really cool. I like it! Very clever.

To Princess Sarah,
Happy Valentines day.
You said you weren't expecting any cards. Not much of a card exactly, but I hope it'll do.

The heart, representing my own and my love for you. The gap, waiting to be filled by you. The summer's sky, symbolising the eternity and purity of my love for you.

You asked me many times what I've been drawing. I've always replied, "You'll know." Well, this is what I have been drawing all this time. Not exactly good, but I have spent ages on this, and I hope you are happy with it. I ask again, will you go out with me?

Cloud

PS. I love you

I like yhe sketchy look. This was actually for my niece who wanted me to draw a butterly. Shes 4 years old and annoying.
lorelai 2007/5/5 - 14:55:59
That is so sweet :)
mika 2007/5/8 - 9:30:5
All 4 year olds are annoying......and sticky, I swear you can take any kid under 5/6 and attach them to the nearest wall with how sticky they are.....human flypaper that's what they are.........but err yeah nice pic all the same and not sticky at all....:D
dorothyblueeyes 2007/5/15 - 21:52:56
Yes,this is really nice.Love it. (oh,well,I did not have the guts to have kids, but realize now,I never could have taken care of a 4 year old.You gotta have the right personality for kids, and I would have cracked up;not everyone is meant to be a mom. Applause for the Moms who could manage it. :) ()
jakusama 2008/9/16 - 20:55:36
Butterflies! What a sweet idea. I love the flowiness of the hair. Very cool.

tayley-chan 2007/2/27 - 4:24:57
There is something fantasticly, beautifully moody about this whole piece.

I dig it ^_^
lorelai 2007/2/27 - 10:27:4
So gorgeous. I'd totally have let this go in the theme room because you can tell the only two colors used in the scene are darkness and white light. :)
dorothyblueeyes 2007/4/2 - 14:40:29
Pretty good, makes me think of a Stephen King novel illustation.Spooky!
mitsu 2007/6/14 - 16:27:45
Oooh, dramatic lighting. It has a very cinematic feel. I'll give it two thumbs up!
cloud 2008/2/13 - 14:8:44

ryoanna 2007/2/22 - 15:32:31
Very cool, love the fact that you didn't use black to outline everything... nice work :-)
maemay 2007/5/5 - 7:57:20
That's cool. I like the fact you used baish lines instead of heavy black lines. I t softins the picture. Sorry I can't spell.
candy_bird 2007/7/15 - 16:37:6
nice solid coloring, and love the line work--it makes the picture flow more!!

jakusama 2008/9/16 - 21:5:36
There is some awesome lineart at work here, this is rather fabulous. The coloring and shading is rather precise, and the lineart makes it neat. And I love the fingers. Is that weird? :p

Thanks to everyone at Rydia who inspired my techniques, this is something thats always been in my head but I have never been able to show, thankyou.
elolinon 2007/2/19 - 7:40:33
Awesome! :O
The atmosphere in this picture is... I can't really describe it in words, but i can almost hear the sounds of the wood, an owl's wing beats and the light steps of a vigiliant fox somewhere behind the trees. I love those lights also, they look magical.
happywaterbottle 2007/2/19 - 14:56:11

dorothyblueeyes 2007/4/2 - 14:48:2
hee hee, great . neat. (does everyone have their own website gallery?Tell me,do those things pay off,or do you have to really have good PR to make it popular, even get attention? Asking cause, there are way too many of we artists in the world, who are all trying to "sell our art",anyhow, and gallerys by the billions all over the web is not gonna sell everyone's stuff very well, just like in the outside world.Just curious, anyhow. You may just be "galleyering" for fun,not trying to sell. I've always found the art field one of the most moneytary-profit-less things I ever did.I just like doing it,but making money off it?Never gonna do it.Not me,anyhow.) Anyhow, very good drawing.
tim_kai 2007/6/9 - 14:0:28
I have a deviant art account, personally. I don't advertise (much), I just kinda let it hang. I don't intend to make a living doing art, it's just something I do.

There's a song by Harry Chapin called "Mr. Tanner" that has these lyrics as a main theme:

"Music was his life, it was not his livelihood;
And it made him feel so happy, and it made him feel so good . . .

He did not know how well he sang, it just made him whole"

I love that song, even though it's about how Mr. Tanner made an attempt with making singing his livelihood, and then when that failed he never sang in public again, just quietly to himself late at night. It's actually a heartbreaking little song. Shoot. Now I feel sad.

Still, I put my art out there, and if someone likes it, fine, if no one likes it, fine, but it's mine and that's what I care about. this wasn't even supposed to be serious or a serious attempt at serious art, it was just something fun to do on Valentines day.
jakusama 2008/9/16 - 21:12:18
Ahh! Scary! Whoa. But kinda cool. In a creepy sort of way. Neat. I love the red. It's mostly black and white with shading, and the red is just enough to accent without overpowering. Heh. It's actually really neat once it's not scaring me anymore. :p
