The hand to the left totally killed me o.O Reference used, of course.
( [link]
The reference used is one of my favourite pictures, and even if I didn't manage to catch the feeling here, I like the way it turned out. His shoes are to small though, so the perspective is a bit weird xD

Awsome photographer, by the way. Make sure to check his gallery!
elolinon 2007/3/30 - 12:19:13
The link didn't work -.- Well, his name is dive2blue on Deviantart, just in case anyone wants to know :)
ryoanna 2007/3/30 - 12:58:39
:O ....

I LOVE THIS ... Awesome!!
blacklight 2007/3/30 - 16:50:57
great texture, like how you did the shoes alright.
happywaterbottle 2007/3/31 - 5:39:49
wooow this is so amazing!! it looks like a real photo! those clouds are amazing! his back is awesome!
this needs to be in Gallery or Hall of Fame. definitively.
golden 2007/4/1 - 23:57:46
OMFG :O this is your best picture so far, seriously. it's absolutely amazing.
dorothyblueeyes 2007/4/2 - 14:4:56
Oh, god, look at the control of paint; sheesh; you really have a totally photographic eye and paint hand.Amazing.
jakusama 2007/4/3 - 9:49:23
Oh my god.. I'm so jealous you were able to capture this so well. It kinda hits home for me in a way because I'm always thinking about freefalling and trying to put it into a picture because words cant describe it. Very nice. I like the shading on the back the most, I think. Is that weird? o.O
elolinon 2007/4/4 - 4:38:29
Thanks :D No, not at all. I think that was the part I put most effort into, because the shading on the back was like... the center of the photo, that tiny area which first caught my attention. Indeed, I'd like to test it sometime (freefalling). Oh god xD I'm sure I will regret it when I'm up there.
phil 2007/4/14 - 15:46:4
no comment just wow
maemay 2007/4/21 - 20:19:6
It's so realistic. I can almost feel his fall and the adrinaline.
syzygy 2007/4/22 - 0:52:53
Trippy and amazing. This rocks. The clouds are real, I swear!

In which bananarana learns that she has no freaking clue where the ear goes. I think it should be a little higher. Query?
bananarana 2007/3/10 - 2:35:51
Is it just me, or does the animation not show up whenever the pen tool was involved?

...lol, too bad 95% of my picture was colored with that thing.
cretin 2007/3/10 - 11:51:53
Looks good! And the ear is a little higher up, the bottom of the ear should line up with the tip of the nose. :) I like her hair.
flame 2007/3/10 - 12:33:48
Nice hair. =D

The top of the ear usually lines up with the end of the eyebrow, and goes down to the tip of the nose.

It is very nicely shaded, though.
bananarana 2007/3/12 - 23:4:41
One of my layers was messed up really badly, so I had to ditch it and remake it. >__>; Good thing it didn't have a lot on it, otherwise I'd have started crying!

Moved the ear and now it looks small to me (actually, it just looks really weird to me in general </3). That right edge is really throwing me off.

Thoughts? (applies to the rest of the picture as well, not just the ear)
lorelai 2007/3/14 - 9:32:14
Ear actually looks a bit small to me in relation to the head :/ Also I guess I'm not really seeing a reason to have it show through her hair? I'd almost just cover it with the hair :o It's a damn fine ear though.
bananarana 2007/3/14 - 12:11:2
Yeah, looking at it again a few days later, I can see that the ear is tiny. And as for why it's there? Because I'm stubborn and pigheaded, and it was drawn in the sketch goshdarnit, so it's going into the final rendering! Also, I have tendency to cover the ear up with hair, so I think I should actually include it every once in a while.
lorelai 2007/3/16 - 0:8:48
I'd considering getting rid of that lock of curly hair just in front of the ear then, and pull it back behind the ear instead. That way the ear gets a lot more attention as it deserves!

A pasty Captain Jack Harkness (plus some blurred Tosh), referenced from a screencap of Torchwood.

As per usual, there are still things to work on, but it's done enough. :D
cretin 2007/3/8 - 9:11:0
O_O Nice work! I like how realistic it looks.
blacklight 2007/3/10 - 16:13:27
cool realistic shading!
dorothyblueeyes 2007/3/11 - 3:53:35
oil painting portrait!!Great picture,I am aware that this software is very good for portraits, and they're coming back into style,so get yer computer ready to make you some money doing some portraits.
bananarana 2007/3/12 - 23:6:24
I've always loved your pictures, and now I can add this one to that growing pile of love.
lorelai 2007/3/14 - 9:36:51
You make it look so effortless ;_;
syzygy 2007/4/22 - 0:53:56

kaira 2007/3/8 - 0:25:28
I really do love the subtle texture-ish things in this.
dorothyblueeyes 2007/3/11 - 3:51:57
yow, fabulous work of fine art.I really like this.
lorelai 2007/3/14 - 9:32:47
...Heironymous Bosch?...is that his name? O_o
bananarana 2007/3/14 - 12:31:4
I have no idea what is going on, and that makes me happy.
senobdec 2007/3/16 - 23:32:49
Not sure why, but this really stuck with me.... the almost 'hidden' shading speaks volumes. Plus the flowers coming out of that poor person's rectum :D.
maemay 2007/4/21 - 20:20:35
I can really see this on a t-shirt. It's very interesting and unique.
syzygy 2007/4/22 - 0:55:9
You rock my world. I love that it's kind of like.. I don't even know how to describe it.

bandersnatchsm 2007/3/6 - 17:59:39
I really like this one! I love the colors and crisp outlines of the 'shroom and roots.
sankyu 2007/3/6 - 22:42:2
Oh wow thats good
kaira 2007/3/6 - 23:50:56
Mushroom = <3
dorothyblueeyes 2007/3/11 - 3:54:44
oh, lovely.Yes,the roots look great, too.
bananarana 2007/3/14 - 12:31:23

I dunno. I'm pleased with how the lady came out, but I just had no idea what to do for the background. My mom said it looked fine with just the solid color, so I just said screw it. C&C please, and I need tips on thinking up backgrounds
kougra_girl 2007/3/6 - 14:58:30
you could've added mountains in the blue part :O that would've looked neat.

the shading is really nice x3 and i like how you colored the ribbons. very neat.
ryoanna 2007/3/6 - 15:19:52
So cool! *o* I always love your work. The colours are wonderful and it looks absolutely lovely. I think a bg would distract from the image... this is perfect the way it is :3
happywaterbottle 2007/3/6 - 15:52:20
Your pics are always so cool. I think the cool thing is that I never fully understand them, which is cool XD
But I love the lady's expression. Her eyes are lovely. and the ribbons or whatever they are are very cool, I think I would never have the patience to do a gradient with solid colors so I admire you for that :D
tayley-chan 2007/3/7 - 5:14:51
I'm always impressed with the way you color... and the unique things you draw... this piece is a great example of your general awesomness ^_^ love it.
sabii 2007/3/7 - 8:52:34
i think it's good with just one colour otherwise it would get too crowded. i love the flowing forms, the gracefulness. i love you've drawn her foot. you finally finished something! :p
blacklight 2007/3/10 - 16:15:2
your coloring rules the world! you have this great knack for making solids shade so well.
lorelai 2007/3/14 - 9:33:0
Beautiful :)
bananarana 2007/3/14 - 12:32:38
I agree with sabii--the subject is very busy and detailed already that adding a complicated background would just take away the focus. I've always adored how you color. : )
senobdec 2007/3/16 - 23:34:8
Astonishing and beautiful. The colors work REALLY well.
tim_kai 2007/3/28 - 7:31:1
I love this. 4 arms, all trailing ribbons everywhere. It's a beautiful image, both drawn here and in my head.
maemay 2007/4/21 - 20:21:50
I love the ribbons and the shading. The whole concept is just interesting.

sabii 2007/3/3 - 1:13:18

elolinon 2007/3/3 - 8:54:23
Wonderful colouring, and I love the shading in his face! Well-balanced with both cool and warm colours :)
golden 2007/3/4 - 11:5:52
Beautiful shading! I love the contrasts in his face.
lorelai 2007/3/4 - 21:58:49

Why yes I AM trying to kick my ass into drawing more often... ^_^

Focusing mainly on the RICS crew in the hopes of keeping myself on trak with the project as a whole.

Mila COULD brood in the graveyard and soak up the spooky atmos... but dude, BUTTERFLY! ^_^
blacklight 2007/2/28 - 15:50:9
Wow, I can tell you took a lot of care with those fishnets.
hoshi 2007/2/28 - 17:26:21
Awesome! We love the butterfly and is that pocky?! Pocky! <3

Err yeah. >.> Anywys the gravestones are awesome too. ^^
tayley-chan 2007/3/1 - 12:28:29

It's scary posting in here... first gallery piece.
I had a dream about this place... It was cooler in the dream.
tayley-chan 2007/2/28 - 5:55:44
You have awesome dreams...

Also mad skills at water shading. ^_^
sankyu 2007/2/28 - 10:5:13
You too? Yeah, its a lover-ly place to be. I visited long ago. You painted it alot better than I modelled it ^.^
blacklight 2007/2/28 - 15:48:36
It's florida after global warming takes its toll! XD

Pretty cool though.
hoshi 2007/2/28 - 21:8:25
I wanna live in a place like this.
elolinon 2007/3/1 - 12:36:55
Wow o.o Very well done... I love the details, expecially that little boat :) The stone things reminds me of Gotland's "Raukar", which are sea stacks created by 1000 years of wear from wind and water.

bandersnatchsm 2007/3/1 - 12:49:43
Wow, they sure do...
Now I want to go there!
lorelai 2007/3/4 - 21:58:6
Amazing work =D
cretin 2007/3/5 - 10:50:38
I like how much detail you put into making the rocks and the boat, the water looks great too. :)
dorothyblueeyes 2007/3/11 - 3:47:2
so beautiful and realistic; sigh, yer skills are "awesome."
bananarana 2007/3/14 - 12:14:44
Coooooool. :OOOOO
dorothyblueeyes 2007/3/23 - 18:2:45
BAWWW!!WAWW!!!(throws temper tantrum of ego)"Am I not good enough to get Gallery Access? What's wrong with me?Not enough polish?Cleanness?Finished?Too messy? Not enough careful work? Not "perfectionist" enough?S___, I've spent my entire life trying to get over being a perfectionist. Ok, ok,so I dropped the stained glass class, cause it was too rigid. What am I, chopped liver?" (ponders thought that I may, indeed, be chopped liver, and not Gallery.)
dorothyblueeyes 2007/4/2 - 13:55:40
I'ts very skillful, placid, beautiful, serene, and polished.I'm not like that at all. Not likely to ever get that way.
epiphanymoonchild 2007/7/5 - 22:59:32
Oh my, how extrordinairy, you've taken me there, and it feels familiar. Reminds me of a Pink Floyd logo or some album art I saw saw once

this is great. Looks like a picture from a magazine!
kougra_girl 2007/3/6 - 14:48:11
the shading is awesome :) buuut the outline looks a bit choppy >< otherwise. awesome. :D love the background too. gives the pic something extra.
bananarana 2007/3/14 - 12:33:52
Pin up girl WOOOOO. She would make a GREAT tattoo, actually. Great job on the greyscale; I completely and utterly suck at shading.
