A much better and accurate self portrait. More recent photo ref. - And the little spots are supposed to be freckles. i was having a hard time with the eyes-trying to make them blend better with the face. I think they stand out a bit too much.

Looks good, always been a fan of greyscale ;).
C+C:The eyes are not lined up correctly (based on the nose and mouth, which are fine I think) - move the leftmost eye right by 1/2 eye width and down 3/4 eye height (approximate).
Generally, you need more contrast in your shading (if this is flash photography taken at night the edges of the face would be much darker although you can tone down the "light reflection" on the focused face. The nose, cheek and ridges around the eye should all be more sharply defined.
To tone down the eyes simply use watercolor 2 at low opacity. I would not recommend using blur much, but it could also help.
Ditto for the lips, very little contrast.

i KNEW something was wrong with it! i just couldn't figure out exactly WHAT. thanks sooo much for pointing those things out...i'm going to practice with the photoshop tools.

You did great! I've tried so many times to do a realistic picture; I just can't seem to get the hang of it. But this looks fantastic! I hope you continue drawing more pictures like this one.
