(moved) () Oekaki by caym, total drawing time 8 : 16 : 45

caym 2004/10/24 - 17:35:59
I'm totally exhausted ! It took me two days and a total of approximately 8 hours (I saved it a couple of times). The reference for the background is a picture taken by my father (again), and the rest is a picture by DA user ~princessirulan.
For senobdec, whose comment gave me the motivation for this picture. Yay, no more lineart ! XD

coleslaw 2004/10/24 - 17:53:22
...Everytime I post a worth-while picture, someone outdoes me u_u

I can't believe that dress! So beautiful, everything is perfectly colored!! I really, really don't like you TT_TT Just kidding, of course :O
maggie_sue 2004/10/24 - 18:3:14
her dress is divine...I love how you used compliments to really fill in those cast shadows. This also has an intriguing composition, like she's just walking by. beautiful background as well. The dress above all else blows me away. Wonderful job.
rae 2004/10/24 - 18:12:16
the scenery looks very real and the dress too. extremely beautiful! the way you painted it reminds me of old oil paintings of nobles in finery... but her position in the painting makes it quirky and modern.
mika-kun 2004/10/24 - 18:13:45
This cannot possibly exist as it is impossible to draw that good....but everytime I open my eyes it is still there.....I am truly in shock!
mitsu 2004/10/24 - 18:38:10
:[_____] Ohemefgee! That's...it's...ghafduid freakin' amazing and super-human!! :O Just WOW! It reminds me of the painting on the cover of my Art History textbook, and that's saying something I should think! *shoves Caym violently towards the Hall of Fame* If ever a picture deserved it, it's this one. I cannot recall ever seeing such a brilliantly executed oekaki on this board since I joined. But even more wonderful than the sheer joy it brings to my eyes to behold, this picture has inspired me to spend some actual time and effort on my oekakis starting... when I have more time. :p Anyway, truly MAGNIFICENT work! Consider me an eternal fan. :D
mika-kun 2004/10/24 - 18:45:17
I am still staring at it....and still in shock!
keko 2004/10/24 - 19:45:59
Goodness gracious. I'm actually left speechless. There's so much to say and I'm too lazy to say it. XD The material of the dress, the folds, the background, the STROKES you've used!!!, the skin, the colors. This is definitely definitely Hall of Fame worthy. I'd have to agree with Mitsu on that I haven't seen such a well done oekaki since I've been here (or on any oekaki for that matter). If I hadn't seen the background, I would've been fooled into thinking that this was truly a photo. Gorgeous.
jellybean 2004/10/24 - 20:0:43
that IS a photograph, right?
im in awe. im speechless! this is soo beautiful! special delivery, Hall of Fame!!
shanwang 2004/10/24 - 20:21:10
I want to touch the silky satiny dress! This is amazing unbelievable inexplicable extraodinary astounding inconceivable etc... I don't know what to say!!!!!!!!!! The lighting is so classic.
shanwang 2004/10/24 - 20:21:31
OMG I Had to express more of my love for this!!
luck 2004/10/24 - 20:48:19
Wow. Wow. Wow! That is so intensely good I can't NOT look at it. Goooorgeous~ (Sadly, my mind cannot form anything more coherent than this...The rest of it is just mushy praise, and that would just get redundant.) <3<3<3<3
saffira 2004/10/24 - 21:4:32
...I think I just had an oekaki-gasm. SO! BEAUTIFUL! God, dress is so, so beautiful. Certainly hall of fame material.
kaira 2004/10/24 - 21:28:6
Oh my gosh... The fabric!! You can totally tell it's the shiny satiny type that's super hard to sew with *is trying to sew with that material currently* but looks uberly awesome on ruffley, foldy dresses!! Awesome, awesome, awesome job!!!
senobdec 2004/10/24 - 23:57:10
No need to thank me certainly. Your talent and dedication is incredible and wholly worthy of praise (and responsibility for this fantastic piece). Wonderful painting and an excellent composition. I think I'll just stare at it while I spam people over ICQ to look at it XD. *saves*
remi-187 2004/10/25 - 0:43:8
i think your backround is a child's play in comparison to the dress you did, that heavy look you gave it, i still cant understand how you did it. really well done!
kaiomi 2004/10/25 - 3:5:28
Damn that is awesome! The background does match nicely with her for some unexplainable reason and everything looks so realistic. It's like you just took a picture and somehow magically turned it into an oekaki with your skills. *tries to push into Hall of Fame*
caym 2004/10/25 - 5:24:25
Thanks so much everyone. I can't find words to express my gratitude towards you. It's a weird feeling to have people you admire for years complimenting you ! I'd also like to dedicate this drawing to all the people who think "I could never do that", because that's what I thought when I started to draw the dress. But it seems like my hand had a life of its own and drew by itself. So be confident, and if I can do it, you can do it too !
milkshake 2004/10/25 - 12:29:4
eek! omg, that is uterly amazing! Really, really, wonderful shading on dress, it looks like I could just touch it....O_O
spoonalshmee 2004/10/25 - 14:44:59

i've been looking and re-looking at this for a day or so...i'm still gaping! this is too beautiful! also, i agree with everyone about this being the most beautiful oekaki they've seen. you and mika-kun should make a fabric-esque picture together!! heheh leather and satin!!
mika-kun 2004/10/26 - 5:15:35
I keep getting pulled back like a moth to a flame to this pic....you must have entered into a Euphoric state whilst doing this, I certainly do while looking at it..it is flawless, you have certainly raised the bar several notchs as far as artistic vision and skill are concerned, I salute you.....=^v^=
pie 2004/10/26 - 13:47:48
Holy... Moly! O.O The shading is beyond perfection. The background is great, the folds are too beautiful. I'd SO hang this on my wall.
kinako 2004/10/26 - 21:2:19
Oh gosh... I... I LOVE YOU! T__T Woow, this piece.. it just AMAZES me! It leaves me speechless everytime I look at it. The dress, the girl's skin, the background... You are awesome.
syzygy 2004/10/26 - 23:59:12
Holy Jeebus.. Youre not human.. youre like.. a demigod or something (being that gods dont so much reside on earth) and thats incredible.. how in the world did you get it to do that? You are too amazing.. I think Im going to go faint now..
anjiira 2004/10/28 - 1:30:19
I have waited a while before expressing my love for this, but that doesn't mean I didn't see it first!! XD I can't get over everything you've done here to make this what it is. Everything is simply BEAUTIFUL. Congratulations on a masterpiece.

ienjoydrawing 2004/10/29 - 1:29:31
As I scrolled down the page while checking out the polished room, I saw yours and kind of... stopped. And went, "daaaaaanng". :
But seriously, this is an incredible work! If it weren't for the fact that it's posted on an oekaki board, I would've thought this was a real painting. I had to look at this several times to make sure it was real. The colors are great, as is pretty much everything else. Definitely Hall of Fame material. You're an amazing artist; keep up the great work! :D
elusive_dreamer 2004/11/5 - 21:45:52
WOW i could almost touch the material on that dress -- like liquid gold. the skin and hair is spectacular too, placed with the background
silverlight 2004/11/9 - 16:27:46
that's fabulous. seriously, for two seconds...maybe three minutes, i thought it was a picture. you paid amazing attention to light and detail and your choice of colors is fabulous. its a beautiful picture, i must say.
troubled_youth 2004/11/10 - 20:3:52
that is so amazing. it must go to the hall of fame OO
lorelai 2005/5/14 - 14:40:14
I agree with the above comment: Hall of Fame'd on 5/13/05!
heavenlystrike 2005/5/15 - 23:34:42
I seriously don't get it. How can you be human and do this... o_o it's just...soo.. waah...amazing. no even amazing is too little of a word...it should even be above Hall of Fame, like Heaven of Fame or something.
alex 2005/6/4 - 1:59:12
